Hotel boss reveals his favourite room to book - and it might surprise you
A hotel boss has revealed the best room to choose in a hotel, and it might not be what you think.
Speaking to 9Travel, Accor Pacific COO Adrian Williams says these days there shouldn't really be a "best" room within the same property, as all options should be on par.
But there's a certain spot he says he likes to be in when booking his own stay at a hotel.

"I don't like rooms too high up, because you lose contact with the vibe of the street. I like to be around level eight," Adrian tells us.
"High enough to see but you're close enough to feel connection."

Adrian also reveals the three most popular places Aussie holidaymakers are going right now. Japan, Fiji and Queenstown in New Zealand are the hottest spots to travel to.
One of the most popular Accor hotels, which is Australia's biggest hotel firm, is the Sofitel on Denarau Island, Fiji, he says.
"It's beachfront, the restaurant, service, adults' only section, it's remarkable, and we've got some further development happening," he adds.
The islands famously cater for families, as well as couples and cruisers. 9Travel writer Jemima even says it's the 'best place in the worldcater for families,

As for the best way to get that elusive room upgrade when on holiday, it's simple,
Adrian says you need to be a member of the company's loyalty program, and stay at them regularly.
"They get the best offers," he says, adding staff will get to know your preferences and if you're celebrating anything from your profile.

While he's constantly on the move for work, Adrian says it was a recent holiday closer to home that has had a big impact on his family.
He took them to Uluru in Central Australia and experienced the installations there including Field of Light.
"While you think of all the great European holidays, the Asian holidays, and we've done them as well, the connection to culture in Central Australia was very meaningful for them," he says.
"It opened their eyes about their own backyard."

It comes after the best hotel in the world was crowned, with the Rosewood Hong Kong taking the top spot on The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025 list.
The list featured properties from 22 destinations across six continents, with two hotels in Australia making the list.
Brisbane's The Calile, a feature of the last three lists, came in at number 34.
But Oceania had a new entry in Capella Sydney, which only narrowly missed out on a top 10 spot, placing at number 12.
