Australian sports fans are mourning the passing of iconic horse trainer Bart Cummings, who has died at age 87.
Christened the Cups King, Cummings had an unrivalled record in Australian racing, winning 12 Melbourne Cups, starting with Light Fingers in 1965 and ending with Viewed in 2008.
Regarded as a national treasure, his training record also included 266 Group One winners and 758 Stakes winners.
He won 12 Melbourne Cups, startng in 1965 with Light Fingers.
His favourite horse was, Saintly, winner of the 1996 Cup.
Bart was a feature of the annual Melbourne Cup parade.
...but was happiest on the track or at the stables.
