Josh Addo-Carr has checked himself into a rehabilitation clinic on the Central Coast amid the allegations he tested positive for cocaine during a roadside drug test.

9News rugby league reporter Danny Weidler revealed Addo-Carr had opted to take measures to get his life back on track just days after he allegedly returned a positive roadside test result when stopped in Newton in Sydney on Friday night.

9News reporter Bailey Kenzie revealed on Friday that Addo-Carr returned a negative blood alcohol reading, but a positive result for a drug believed to be cocaine.

On Sunday, JAC Motors announced they had opted to cut their sponsorship ties with the Eels winger with immediate effect as a result of the allegation.

“The allegations and reported behaviour does not reflect our values and standards,” the car manufacturer wrote in a statement on social media.

“We believe in the safety and integrity in all our products and all our dealings.

“We are disappointed with this news.”

Addo-Carr has deleted his Instagram account in the wake of the positive test.

Parramatta have confirmed they are aware of the incident involving Addo-Carr and have notified the NRL integrity unit as a result.

“The club is cooperating with the appropriate processes, as well as providing welfare support to Josh and his family,” the club’s statement read on Saturday.

“Parramatta will not be commenting further until the matter has been finalised.”

The 31-year-old was sacked by Canterbury two years ago after testing positive for cocaine, with the club ripping up the final year of his contract.

After that incident, Addo-Carr accepted a $682 fine and three-month driving ban from police without contesting it in court.

He signed with the Eels at the start of last season and has gone on to score 27 tries in 45 matches in the blue and gold jersey.

Addo-Carr still has one year remaining on that deal with Parramatta.

The NRL have not addressed the latest incident involving the speedster, who represented the Kangaroos during last year’s Ashes series.
