US Open 2022 day 11 WRAP: Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur advance to women's final; Great's dire warning for teen 'freak' ahead of semi-final blockbuster

Thanks for joining us for another engrossing day of US Open action, with Ons Jabeur and Iga Swiatek winning through to the women's US Open singles final.

Return tomorrow from 6am to join us as the last four remaining in the men's singles draw do battle for a place in Monday morning's (AEST) men's singles final, in which a brand new grand slam champion will be crowned.

Well Iga Swiatek may have a career in comedy post-tennis. She bought the house down on Arthur Ashe stadium when she revealed it was during a toilet break that she devised the game plan to bring down Aryna Sabalenka.

After the first set both players took the opportunity for a bathroom break, but it was Swiatek who then won the next two sets to move on.

She was asked in her post-match courtside interview by former Aussie great Rennae Stubbs what she told herself during the break.

"It's more what I did," came the reply.

"I kind of needed to go. For sure I felt a bit lighter," she said to roars of laughter from the crowd.

"Sorry, that's disgusting.

"I tried to use that time to really try to think about what to change and really ... I remember when I was younger, all I did in the bathroom between sets was cry.

"This time I can actually think about what to change and actually problem solve ... I'm pretty glad I did that because I got a new idea for the second set."

After beating Sabalenka, she will play Ons Jabeur in the final on Sunday morning (AEST).

She expects it will be a "physical" match.

"She has such good hands, she's solid on the baseline and when she's going in (to the net) I just have to be careful.

"Right now, I'm just gonna try to enjoy being in the final."

She's done it! Iga Swiatek won the last four-straight games to beat Aryna Sabalenka to move into the final of the US Open.

She will take on Ons Jabeur, who earlier made light work of Caroline Garcia.

Swiatek had three match points - she was 0-40 up on Sabalenka's serve - and won it on the second attempt when a Sabalenka backhand ended up in the net.

Final score: Swiatek over Sabalenka 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Sabalenka threatened, but eventually Swiatek holds serve to take a 5-4 lead.

She can win it now with a break!

That was a huge game. Down a break, Swiatek regains it against Sabalenka to love.

It's 4-4 in the deciding set, and we're back on-serve.

She had the chance to get back on-serve did Iga Swiatek, but she was unable to make a crucial forehand and the chance went begging.

She's serving now, but at 4-2 down she has just two more chances to break Sabalenka's serve to book the last spot in the final of the US Open.

Iga Swiatek clawed that break back off the back of a brilliant backhand when 0-15 down.

Sabalenka put a volley too deep, which allowed Swiatek the chance to smash a backhand into the back corner of the court.

She was able to ride the momentum of that shot to get the break back.

But it was short lived.

In the very next game, Sabalenka went all out and re-took the lead by once again breaking the world No.1.

Is that the break that gets Sabalenka into her first Grand Slam final?

And she does! Down 2-0, Swiatek makes a crucial hold to get on the board in the second set.

It included a fantastic forehand up the line that was just out of reach of Sabalenka.

This match is still wide open!

After having all the momentum at the end of the second set, Iga Swiatek has started the third set in the worst possible way.

She's made seven errors and trails 2-0.

Having been broken in her first game, Swiatek will desperately want to make this hold.

After looking all at sea in the first set, Iga Swiatek came out in the second a changed woman.

She's blown Sabalenka off the court to take the second set 6-1.

She will no doubt take huge momentum into this deciding set.
