Australian Open day 10 AS IT HAPPENED: Todd Woodbridge explains why Carlos Alcaraz is still 'beatable' after quarter-final win

It seems as though only one man can truly beat Carlos Alcaraz consistently.

That player is Jannik Sinner, but many have come close or done so in the past.

Heading one step closer to the Australian Open final, Australian great Todd Woodbridge was asked if any player will be able to halt the power of Alcaraz in this tournament.

His response was simple.

"I think he is beatable, but you have to have a little more weaponry than what Alex has got," Woodbridge said on Nine post-match.

Carlos Alcaraz may have won several major titles in his young career, but he could not have done so without his father.

The 22-year-old has travelled to Australia with his family by his side and they have been soaking up every minute together.

Asked what it is like being with his family, Alcaraz was full of praise.

"Sometimes we just make some jokes in the locker room," he said of travelling and working with his family.

"All the players tell me that I could play play a football match with my team (because of how many are in it)

"It's funny but I need it. I need these people around me. me. They are the reason that I play such great tennis on the court. They make me feel great, feel like I'm at home every time.

"Having my my brother and my dad - my uncle as well. It's been great so far.

"I'm just really proud and happy to see my dad (here) because these things are (good to) experience together. This was his dream, too, when he was playing tennis."

With an ace, Carlos Alcaraz has finished it off 7-5, 6-2, 6-1.

Domination from the Spaniard against Alex de Minaur and that's his first semi-final in the Australian Open.

"Simply a sensational match," Todd Woodbridge said on Nine.

A double break for Carlos Alcaraz.

He defended two break points before it went to deuce. Alcaraz grabbed the advantage and then de Minaur hit a shot long.

"It would appear the end is near," Todd Woodbridge said on Nine.

Alex de Minaur is on the board in the third set.

But he looks broken.

Carlos Alcaraz is now really going on the attack and de Minaur doesn't really have an answer.

He went over to his team and there was a strong discussion with some hand gestures.

Big lift needed.

It's the same problems for Alex de Minaur.

Carlos Alcaraz just keeps starting on fire and once again he's gone up by a big margin.

"Each of these sets have started the same way," Jim Courier pointed out in commentary.

"Alcaraz holds serve and then he breaks serve."

He has done exactly that to start the third set - and has done so in style, leading 2-0.
