SBW gives medal away to young fan
Sonny Bill Williams has given a young NZ fan the thrill of a lifetime after gifting his Rugby World Cup winners’ medal to a small boy.
The cross-code star said he “felt sorry” for Charlie Lines after the 15-year-old was “smoked by one of the security guards” as he snuck onto Twickenham to give Williams a hug after the All Blacks’ historic triumph.
So he took the young boy back to his mother in the stands and hung his medal around Charlie's neck.
“Better hanging around his neck than on my wall at home, I guess,” Williams said humbly.
Sonny Bill Williams came off the bench at halftime and sparked the All Blacks.
