Rumble in the Jungle boxing ring stolen
Officials in Kinshasa have revealed that the ring used for boxing's famous "Rumble in the Jungle" between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman has been stolen.
A leading sports official in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), who wished to remain anonymous, made the embarrassing admission as fans marked 40 years since one of the most famous and brutal bouts in the sport's history.
Ali and Foreman climbed into the ring at dawn on October 30, 1974.
The 'Rumble in the Jungle' is arguably boxing's most famous fight.
It pitted the undefeated world heavyweight champion George Foreman against Ali.
Ali was the former heavyweight champion.
The event was one of Don King's first ventures as a boxing promoter.
Zaire's president wanted the fight in his country for the publicity.
Ali's prowess in front of the media ensured the fight gained attention.
The pair stepped into the ring at 4am to cater for an overseas audience.
He continually attacked his rival with 'right-hand leads'.
He also began to lean on the ropes and cover up, letting Foreman punch him.
