Row erupts over nude models at sports awards
A fresh row has erupted about the sexualisation of women in sport after the appearance of nude female models at the Women's Health magazine's I Support Women in Sport awards.
The models were wearing underwear and body paint, and posed as a gymnast, swimmer, runner and basketballer on the same red carpet as Australia's best female athletes.
Their appearance drew immediate criticism, with some suggesting their inclusion had undermined the entire event.
One depicted Cathy Freeman at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
They were accused of taking the gloss off a night headlined by Sally Pearson.
Pearson was named the 2014 Sportswoman of the Year.
She won the award after defending her Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles title.
Her teammates won Moment of the Year for a swimming word record in the 4x100m relay.
Fellow swimmer Emma McKeon received the 'One to Watch' award.
Canoeist Jessica Fox was also among the award winners.
Fox won the Prime Minister's Outstanding Women In Sport Award.
