Gold medal-winning British dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin has become the latest Olympian to have her romance take centre stage at Rio, after her fiancé publicly declared his love.

Dujardin won her third Olympic gold medal yesterday, and Golding donned a giant red hand and a shirt reading "Can we get married now?" as she took her victory lap.

The 31-year-old dressage rider recorded a score of 93.857 to join cyclist Laura Trott as Britain's most decorated female Olympian on three golds each.

Golding showed off the message as he stood to cheer Dujardin, who also won silver in the team event last week and was a double gold medallist at the London Games four years ago.

"He actually asked me just before London, and I said yes," Dujardin said.

"But I don't think he has believed it is going to happen, so now he has gone and made it so public that I definitely have got to do it."

Chinese diver Shi Tingmao claimed gold in the women's 3m springboard diving final, but was relegated to third wheel by her newly engaged teammates.

Qin Kai, who claimed bronze in the men's 3m synchronised springboard, got down on one knee whilst He Zi was on her lap of honour and, after a lengthy wait, finally got the all-important "yes" he was looking for.

As the Australian women's rugby sevens team celebrated their Olympic victory win, another special moment was unfolding just metres away.

Brazilian player Isadora Cerullo said "yes" after her partner of two years, Marjorie Enya, popped the question.

Enya had been volunteering at the stadium, and walked on to the pitch after the game to propose.
