Another huge day in the pool - and outside of it - for the Aussies in Paris.

Brazil have secured a spot in the semis in the women's football with a 1-0 win over host nation France.

They will square off against Germany on Wednesday.

Canada have been knocked out of the women's football tournament, ending their hopes of defending their title from Tokyo.

In a nail-biting affair that finished 0-0 after regular and extra time, Germany won the penalty shootout to move into the semi finals.

United States and Spain have also progressed through to the semis, with Brazil and France battling it out for the final spot.

Australia's women's 3x3 basketball team have been knocked out in the quarter finals.

Coming up against a strong Canada outfit, the Gangurrus were downed 21-10 and missed out on a spot in the semis in the process.

Canada will take on Germany, while the United States and Spain square off in the other semi for a bid to reach the final.

A lovely moment from Australian decathlete Daniel Golubovic, who was spotted consoling Estonian rival Janek Oiglane after the 1500m race.

Norway's Markus Rooth won the gold medal in the gruelling event, finishing ahead of Germany's Leo Neugebaur and Grenada's Lindon Victor.

Golubovic finished 19th overall in the 10-leg event in Paris, with Oiglane in fifth.

Australia has won bronze in the 4x100m mixed medley final.

The USA took gold in a world record time with China claiming silver.

Mollie O'Callaghan swum a strong final freestyle leg for the Aussies but was left with too much work to do.

A fun event.

The USA swim team has now won six gold medals in Paris and Australia seven with one more night to come in the pool.

Germany's Niklaus Kaul has cruised to victory in the 1500m leg of the men's decathlon.

Australia's Daniel Golubovic finished well back in the field, over 20 seconds behind the winner.

Katie Ledecky capped another stellar Olympics by becoming only the second swimmer to win an event at four straight Summer Games, holding off Ariarne Titmus to win the 800m freestyle.

It was Ledecky's second gold medal in Paris and ninth of her remarkable career, which marked another milestone.

She became only the sixth Olympian to reach that figure, joining swimmer Mark Spitz, track star Carl Lewis, Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina and Finnish runner Paavo Nurmi in a tie for second place.

The only athlete to win more golds: swimmer Michael Phelps with 23.

"She is just a champ and I have the most respect for her out of any athlete I've ever competed against," Titmus told Nine.

"I know how hard it is to go back to back and to be on top of the world in the same event for over 12 years is remarkable and I feel so honoured to be a part of her story and hopefully it made her a better athlete as well."

Australia's Ariarne Titmus has won silver in the 800m freestyle as her great American rival Katie Ledecky wins yet another gold.

That was a brilliant race as Titmus just kept coming and swum a PB of 8:12.29.

Ledecky swum 8:11.04 and US teammate Paige Madden also recorded a PB with 8:13.00.

"Four Olympic gold medals in the same event for Katie Ledecky," Giaan Rooney says on Nine.

"A stat that is incredible and the fact she's swimming onto LA in (2028), she is the one to beat there as well, surely."

Aussie Lani Pallister finished sixth.
