That's us!

That wraps up our coverage of day 15 action in Paris.

Just one more short day of competition left, and then the closing ceremony.

Be sure to just us then!

USA claim another basketball gold

Damien McCartney

And that's it! The USA have claimed yet another Olympic gold medal.

That's Kevin Durant's fourth Olympic gold - the first man to do it in basketball.

Appropriately, Steph Curry - who was probably the best performer in this one - put it to bed with a massive three-pointer from well outside the circle. And he celebrated by putting his hands to his ear.

"Oh, my goodness! Nighty night says Steph! Eight threes in the gold medal game! It's outrageous shooting," Andrew Gaze quipped for Nine.

"When the lights are brightest, Steph Curry has shown up."

It was Curry's first Olympics.

"What a gold medal performance from the American superstar. Steph Curry finishes with a team-high 24 points, eight of 12 from down town," Gaze said.

Final score 98-87.

We'll do it again with the same protagonists in the women's tomorrow.

Final minute

We're into the final minute, and the USA lead by nine.

Is that too much to do for France? They need some luck. Those missed free-throws have hurt the hosts.

France get it to with three!

Damien McCartney

WOW! Just as a published that last update, the USA made a couple of errors and brought France right back in it!

And following his earlier jump on LeBron, Yabusele almost added Steph Curry to the same poster.

He got the intercept and looked sure to score but was fouled as Curry and LeBron came in to block.

"He's already got an iconic moment in Olympic history on LeBron James in the first half ... sees it, sees the little fella and just can't get it to fall! That's explosive at the ring," Andrew Gaze said for Nine.

"Beautiful action! Yabusele goes to the line to shoot a couple, but what about the turn overs! We're seeing from the United States? Give France some credit with their ball pressure, but this is uncharacteristic!"

France get it to down to three points, but they're struggling with free-throws - they're only 9/16 from the stripe.

But just as quickly, the USA steadied the ship and got it back to eight, but this is far from comfortable for the USA.

USA cruising midway through final term

Damien McCartney

The lead is back out to 10 points midway through this final quarter of the men's basketball gold medal match between the USA and France.

And the USA are starting to look comfortable.

The French had the better of it in the third quarter but the USA have got the momentum back in this final term.

LeBron just made a massive dunk just to ram that message home.

"Takes out some frustration and that will make the highlight reel," Brenton Speed said for Nine.

"USA really had the wake-up call against Serbia coming from 15 points down in the semi final.

"They led for much of this contest against France in the gold medal game. Four minutes from the ultimate glory!"

Will this be a fourth gold for Kevin Durant?

France fight back at three-quarter time

France have battled their way back into this gold medal match, and the lead has been slashed to just six points at three-quarter time.

We're in for a thrilling end to this one!

France close slightly as Wembanyama loses a boot

Damien McCartney

Victor Wembanyama just lost his boot in the middle of the court. Wow these blokes have big feet.

"Even the Thorpedo (Ian Thorpe) would be swimming in those boots," Brenton Speed quipped in commentary for Nine.

"(233cm) he is ... dubbed the alien by LeBron James and that nickname has stuck."

The lead has been trimmed to 8.

Back underway

Damien McCartney

We're back underway in the second half of this gold medal match between the USA and France, and the modern-day dream team have picked up where they left off.

Joel Embiid has picked up his first points of this gold medal match.

The lead is out to 14 points before the French took a time out, and Andrew Gaze said there are some ominous signs for the French.

"These first few minutes of the second half you just get a sense that France are just hanging on," he said in commentary for Nine.

"They need to come up with some stops – the last thing you want to do is play catch up against this United States team."

Half time

Damien McCartney

That's half time in this gold medal match, and the USA are 10 points up on France - 49-39.

During this break, have a read of Sacha Mirzabegian's analysis on the 'Dream Team' debate - the one between this current USA team and the won that took the 1992 Barcelona Games by storm.

The question bubbled along in the lead up to Paris and only intensifed after Stephen Curry saved the US from an absolute ribbing in his 36-point effort in the comeback win over Serbia.

Is Team USA's Paris 2024 team an equal to or even better than "The Dream Team" from the Barcelona Olympics?

For the majority of the clash against Serbia, it seemed like that question would need not be asked. But eventually their star power clicked into gear and they found success late to advance to the gold medal game against France.

LeBron floored by Yabusele!

Damien McCartney

Wow! Guerschon Yabusele has just floored LeBron James!

From down town, Yabusele climbed over the NBA GOAT (don't come at me) and drew the foul.

"Yabusele a puts LeBron James on a poster," Nine caller Brenton Speed said.

"That image will go around the world, King James on the deck as Yabusele a took off from a long way out."

Andrew Gaze was just as impressed.

"He's going to the bucket ... LeBron James didn't get there in time. It's a touch and go call, the finish is world class (but) he will remember that for the rest of his life, Yabusele.

"You have that image and highlight to share for the rest of his life."

The USA's lead is out to 10.
