Good night!

Lachlan Harper

Thanks for tuning into Wide World of Sports' LIVE coverage of Origin I.

NSW take a 1-0 lead into two matches in Queensland.

We'll be back!

Strange's plan moving forward

Lachlan Harper

NSW Blues coach John Strange says his first focus ahead of two matches in Queensland will be on injuries.

Tiana Penitani Gray will go for scans on her knee he revealed. The second-rower did the injury with 20 minutes to go but didn't want to come off.

Then Strange's plan will be to dissect Origin I.

"There was a couple of moments there, particularly towards the end, that we'll chat about, and learn (from)," he told Nine.

Cameron Smith then asked if it was that last pass that almost led to an intercept.

"Maybe that," he smiled.

"Happy to win by one point, I don't think we needed to win by five."

Player of the match awarded ... but she's shocked

Lachlan Harper

Yasmin Meakes has won player of the match.

But she can't believe it when Brad Fittler told her.

"Me? Are you joking?," she smiled.

"I'm shocked."

The Knights star was stoked to finally win in Newcastle and admits she was having a "heart attack" when that final pass went to Jess Sergis.

"I can't believe I got this," she ended it with when showing the player of the match medal.

Is Gigi going to camp?

Lachlan Harper

Gigi Elliott, daughter of Millie and Adam, has been the star of the show in the lead-up to Origin I.

Millie says she'll be back for Origin II.

"She'll be back in camp, hopefully, see how we go with team selection," she told Nine's Marlee Silva.

"It's great to have her part of it, the girls have been awesome and staff have been awesome."

Southwell's message to Newy

Lachlan Harper

Jesse Southwell was back in Newcastle after her move to Brisbane in the off-season.

She had a nice message for her former home fans.

"I don't think we've won in Newcastle, it's great to break that streak," she said on Nine.

"Thank you so much, always loved yas. Glad we could get it done for you today, thanks guys."

WHAT A FINISH!

Lachlan Harper

It's pure relief for the Blues!

Jess Sergis scored IN THE FINAL SECONDS after the Maroons defence had created space by trying to intercept a speculative Tiana Penitani Gray pass.

Jesse Southwell rather bizarelly missed it but it doesn't matter, the Blues win 11-6.
