'Devastating': Injury-plagued Warriors star Luke Metcalf dealt fresh blow as three go down at Shark Park

Warriors playmaker Luke Metcalf suffered a hamstring strain on Easter Sunday in a gutting blow in only his second game back from an ACL rupture, as his side lost 36-22 to the Sharks.

Warriors centre Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad also went off injured at Shark Park, having copped a heavy blow to the head, while Cronulla centre Jesse Ramien succumbed to a knee injury.

A stretcher was run out for Nicoll-Klokstad, who was knocked in the head when tackling Will Kennedy and hit again as the Cronulla fullback came down on him, but the New Zealand international was able to walk off following the 74th-minute incident.

Warriors coach Andrew Webster said Nicoll-Klokstad passed his head injury assessment but was dealing with a "jarred" neck.

Ramien limped off with a suspected medial collateral ligament tear just before the hour mark.

He was replaced in the centres by Perth-bound wrecking ball Siosifa Talakai, who barged over for a try in trademark fashion after initially being used off the bench at lock.

Metcalf was in the motion of throwing a cut-out ball to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck on the left wing with five minutes remaining when he stopped suddenly and clutched at his left hamstring. He left the field immediately and limped up the race.

"Luke's had a few [hamstring strains] obviously in the past, and he currently feels like it's OK," Webster said.

"He's gonna miss time in football, but he doesn't feel like it's a long-term one. He's just talking about how he's felt with others in the past around that."

Metcalf's ACL rupture was one of the saddest rugby league stories of 2025.

He was leading the Dally M Medal count when voting went behind closed doors after round 12, but his chances of claiming the top gong were dashed when he suffered an ACL rupture in round 17.

"It's devastating for this bloke," Sharks premiership winner Michael Ennis said of Metcalf on Fox League.
