Adam Doueihi's surge towards an Origin jersey has hit a murky situation after he injured his shoulder while scoring a try early in the Tigers' loss to the Sharks.

In the 10th minute against the Sharks in Cronulla, Doueihi put the Tigers on the board after running through a hole and hitting the try line.

The halfback went down hard when he hit the turf and grimaced immediately, clutching at his right shoulder.

"Oh no, no, no, no ... this movement with the arm out in front extended, this is bad," Andrew Johns said on Nine.

"That's the bad one where they pop out ... that's not good."

Doueihi stayed down as medical staff assessed him before he was taken from the field. The 27-year-old has been a big part of the Tigers' strong start to the season, much to do with him finally avoiding injuries, which have mainly been ACL problems.

"He's had a fantastic season and it's all on the back off he's played uninjured, he's had some dreadful injuries throughout his career and is finally playing good footy ... I actually had him in my top 19 for the NSW side," Paul Gallen said.

Johns has also been a big advocate for Doueihi to play Origin I.

After the halfback had left the field, the Tigers told Nine's Emma Lawrence that his strength wasn't too bad and that he was a chance to return.

However, that stance changed minutes later with the Tigers not willing to risk him. Doueihi will head for scans to assess the damage.

Doueihi later confirmed to Nine that he had dislocated his shoulder but medical staff popped it back in quickly.

At half-time, the Sharks were leading 18-10 and decided after the break to put the Tigers to the sword.

KL Iro crossed twice in the second half to make it a hat-trick, and the same went for Teig Wilton. Sam Stonestreet and Nicho Hynes also recorded four-pointers.

"They've made a statement, big, big win," Johns said.

The Tigers also had another injury concern during the match with Samuela Fainu carried off the field by medical staff in the final minutes.
