Wests Tigers secure 'vitally important' 15-year, $100 million upgrades for spiritual homes

Wests Tigers fans have received a major boost, with the club officially announcing a new 15-year plan to remain at their two spiritual homes.

After years of mounting frustration regarding the facilities at Leichhardt Oval and Campbelltown Stadium, upgrades have been locked in for both grounds after receiving $100 million worth of funding from local, state and federal governments.

It will see both the NRL and NRLW teams play at the historic venues long-term and the deal reaffirms the joint venture's commitment to the local areas.

Tigers chief executive Shane Richardson said it was a crucial deal for the long-term success of the club both on and off the field.

"We face a unique set of challenges as a joint-venture club," he said.

"It was vitally important to ensure this strategy supported the long-term financial sustainability of the Wests Tigers, while maintaining a strong connection to the communities we represent," he said in a statement on Monday morning.

"We set a very clear vision for the club, and this strategy is a significant part of that.

"It lays the platform for an exciting period for our members and supporters and we look forward to sharing more developments on these projects as they are finalised."

Leichhardt Oval was rocking at full capacity on Sunday afternoon for the side's 34-28 loss against the Cowboys, witnessing a legendary try to Jahream Bula.

The rusted-on fans continue to turn up in droves at the traditional suburban grounds, despite the Tigers not playing finals football in well over a decade.

Campbelltown Stadium has also brought solid crowds this season and will see the club continue to service the fans in the region.

"We are extremely thankful to all levels of government, who have invested in facilities that will better serve their respective communities," chairman Barry O'Farrell said.

"I'd also like to acknowledge the work of both Inner West Council and Campbelltown City Council, who have been integral throughout this process and will play a pivotal role within this new strategy."
