'Selfish act of violence': Raja Jackson - son of former UFC star Rampage - slammed for 'heinous' incident

The son of UFC cult hero Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has been slammed for an ugly incident inside a professional wrestling ring that left one man with serious injuries.

A video of Raja Jackson went viral on Sunday afternoon (AEST) that saw him jump the guardrail and enter a ring at a local independent show in the United States.

Jackson picked up the wrestler and slammed him to the ground, before appearing to unload with a series of legitimate punches as other wrestlers attempted to break it up.

Wide World of Sports has opted not to publish footage of the incident.

The promotion - Knokx Pro Wrestling - have since confirmed via Facebook that the originally "planned" spot was taken to "heinous" levels by Jackson.

"First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with our brother Mr. Stuart Smith as he remains a priority and we are monitoring his well being," the statement said.

"What was supposed to be a planned and agreed upon wrestling spot, turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith. This egregious act is reprehensible and never should have occurred.

"In the 17 years of operation of KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, there has never been anything as heinous take place such as this and we apologise to our patrons and fans."

The incident was streamed live on a platform known as "Kick" and received widespread criticism online from those within the pro wrestling and MMA communities.

Jackson Sr. also took to social media to give his side of the situation.

"I want to clear up the misinformation about my son Raja. I've been confirmed that the wrestler (Stewart Smith aka Syko Stu) is awake and stable," he said via X.

"Raja was unexpectedly hit in the side of the head by him moments before Smith's match, Raja was told that he could get his "payback" in the ring.

"I thought it was a part of the show. It was bad judgement, and a work that went wrong. Raja is a MMA fighter not a pro wrestler and had no business involved in an event like this. I don't condone my son's actions AT ALL!

"As a father, I'm deeply concerned with his health AND the well being of Mr. Smith.

"That being said I'm very upset that any of this happened, but my main concern now is that Mr. Smith will make a speedy recovery."

Jackson (38-14) was one of the most popular UFC fighters of his generation and competed against the likes of Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen.

His 25-year-old son has one MMA fight to his name.
