'We cannot do this': Wests Tigers threaten to leave home ground in bid for $100m upgrade

Shane Richardson admits the Wests Tigers could leave one of their spiritual homes of Campbelltown Stadium, unless an upgrade is green-lit soon.
One of multiple home grounds used by the joint venture club, there are fears it could fall by the wayside due to it not being "fit-for-purpose", according to the club.
The club, along with the NRL and Campbelltown Council, are seeking an investment of $50 million over the next three years and $100 million over the next decade.

Upgrades to the stadium would see it seat 24,000 fans and 1500 corporate guests and the Tigers are seeking a commitment by the end of June.
If the upgrade is ticked off, the Tigers will play up to nine games there each season across both the men's and women's competitions.
In a statement on Wednesday, chief executive Richardson explained the current set-up at Campbelltown was not up to scratch for NRL.

"We want to play out of Campbelltown Stadium as part of our strategic plan," he said.
"However, we cannot do this under the current stadium set-up.
"A modern venue will unlock much-needed revenue through corporate hospitality, enhance the match-day experience, and increase broadcast value.

"As the game continues to evolve, so must the Wests Tigers.
"If we want to compete at the highest level against other NRL clubs based in modern venues, we need to address the financial advantage those clubs currently have."
The club also play home games at Leichhardt Oval and CommBank Stadium.
