Trai Fuller scores double hat-trick for PM's XIII as PNG cop a lesson after new team name decided

Dolphins star Trai Fuller was able to showcase his talents to the people of Papua New Guinea on Sunday, scoring a double hat-trick during the Australian PM's XIII's 28-10 win over PNG's PM's XIII.

The match came on a momentous day for the country, with PNG's incoming NRL franchise landing on its new team name: Chiefs.

At Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby earlier, the Aussie women's side put 50 on its rivals before the men dominated too.

Playing on the wing, Fuller finished with four tries in a dominant display, which included a first-half hat-trick.

The 28-year-old scored the first try in the seventh minute to start celebrations.

However, the real celebrations came when PNG five-eighth Fingley Glare threw a brilliant cut-out pass for Dudley Dotoi in the corner.

Glare's long ball was so adventurous that it went over giant winger Jason Saab.

"Look at the crowd, up they go," Phil Gould said on Nine.

"Look at that for a pass, he could've thrown that to five blokes, but he threw it to the sixth."

The PNG crowd would be silenced for most of the match, though, with Australia dominating the scoreline.

Tallis Duncan scored next, followed by two from Fuller.

Bradman Best, Tyran Wishart and Fuller were the first tryscorers post half-time.

PNG's Epel Kapinias scored the final four-pointer to send the crowd home with one final cheer.

Incredibly, Australia missed all seven of its conversions.
