'Working hard': Michael Maguire backs Ezra Mam despite legal cloud
Ezra Mam continues to "work hard in the background" as doubt over his future in the NRL continues.
Mam will on Monday face a Brisbane court over charges stemming from a car crash that injured two people in October. He was charged with driving unlicensed and also allegedly failed a roadside drug test.
While the Brisbane Broncos have declared he won't be sacked, the 21-year-old is still facing heavy sanctions from the NRL once the court process concludes.

Speaking on Nine's Today on Monday morning, new coach Michael Maguire said Mam was "working very hard in the background" to turn things around.
"I've obviously had a number of conversations with him, and Ezra's working through the process of going through what he has to," he said.

"I think he's learnt a lot from this moment in time. He's a young man that's made a mistake, and he's working hard to make sure that he moves forward now in the right path."
Mam's crash was part of a string of off-field incidents that plagued the end of the Broncos' season, and came only weeks after he and teammate Reece Walsh were involved in an unrelated incident in Bali.
The 21-year-old checked himself into rehab in the days after the collision.
Asked if he was confident Mam would be able to put the court processes to one side to be fit for the start of the season, Maguire said the ball was in Mam's court.
"He's got a few things that he needs to go through (Monday) and obviously into the future, but it's up to him to do the work now. He has been doing that," he said.
"He's gone away and looked at himself and he's done things outside of sport to realise what he needs to do moving forward. It's really up to him.
"Each day is a new day to make sure he makes amends and keeps working forward."
