EXCLUSIVE: Andrew Johns begs Mitchell Moses to pen new deal with Parramatta Eels

Rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns has implored star Parramatta halfback Mitchell Moses to re-sign with the Eels.

It's of no surprise that Johns wants the out-of-contract 26-year-old to ink a new deal with the Eels because the legendary Newcastle Knights halfback is now a member of Parramatta's coaching staff.

But Johns listed a host of genuine reasons why Moses should reject the offers of rivals, including the highly interested Brisbane Broncos, and recommit to Parramatta.

"Full disclosure; I work with Parramatta. But if I didn't work with Parramatta, I would ... grab him by the ear and say, 'Sign now, mate'," Johns said on Wide World of Sports' Immortal Behaviour.

"You're at a strong club, you've got an opportunity to win a competition over the next two to three years, you've got a really strong forward pack in front of you. Do you want to finish your career coming last or second-last or third-last?'

"I don't know the money involved, but I can imagine at Parra it'd be around $800,000 - maybe a little bit more.

"If you went to Brisbane for a million, which they're talking about, take your tax out and you're living away from home."

Moses is among several senior halfbacks who've been linked to Brisbane.

Broncos coach Kevin Walters is searching for a new No.7 in the wake of young halfback Tom Dearden signing a deal with the North Queensland Cowboys from 2022.

Moses, Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds and Sharks No.7 Shaun Johnson have all reportedly been in talks with Brisbane.

But Johns says another reason why Moses should remain at the Eels is because he's from Sydney.

The former Tiger was born in Ryde and played his junior footy with the Holy Cross Rhinos and Carlingford Cougars.

"He's a Sydney boy born and bred, I think he's even from Parramatta, he played his juniors out that way," Johns said.

"A lot of his family's from there. The great Benny Elias is his uncle.

"Mitchell, you're at a strong system ... If I was advising Mitchell I'd be saying, 'Sign, get it done, no distractions for yourself or your team, get it done and then you win a premiership the next three, four, five years. You might get a couple."
