Then the tears came when he said the team "helped me achieve this dream".

Kimi Antonelli wins the Chinese Grand Prix!

The 19-year-old sensation Kimi Antonelli has won his first ever Grand Prix!

And that makes for another dominant start from Mercedes after winning at Melbourne through George Russell. This time Russell finished second.

Antonelli has a scare!

Kimi Antonelli's lead has gone from nine seconds to seven!

He skidded at the turn and almost went fully off the track but has managed to stay in front.

His team then just delivered a friendly reminder to just bring it home on the last three laps.

Piastri speaks to Sky

More words from Oscar Piastri as he revealed to Sky it was definitely an electrical issue, and described it as a "disappointing".

Piastri confirmed the issue was different to Lando Norris before saying it's been a while since he's watched two F1 races in a row.

Verstappen retires!

Max Verstappen has been told to retire the car!

That's his first ever retirement in Shanghai.

The reason behind it isn't clear yet but it's definitely a mechnical issue.

On board, it looked like Verstappen's whole dashboard went blank for one moment then came back on again.

Piastri explains what happened

Oscar Piastri has spoken to media now too and revealed the circumstances behind his own car issues.

"It was an electrical issue on the power unit. Different to Lando's, so just very unfortunate to both have issues. We don't fully know any more than that at this point. Obviously disappointing," Piastri said.

"(We will) try and learn what we can by watching the race, after that just trying to do as much work as we can before Japan.

"Obviously the problems today have been annoying but I think besides that, we know we've got work to do to find more performance, so that's what we'll try and focus on."

There's been a crash from the pits!

Esterban Ocon came from the the straight and Franco Colapinto from the pits.

It appears Colapinto didn't see Ocon coming as he tried to close the gap and it ended in disaster.

Ocon copped a 10-second penalty for the collision.
