Origin returns to the MCG
Sport has the power to delight and infuriate fans in equal measure, but it never fails to provide entertainment. Supporters all over the world are thrilled each and every week as they watch the best go at it. To celebrate all that's great about sport, here are the biggest hits from the week that was.State of Origin returned to the MCG for the first time since 1997 drawing a world record rugby league crowd of 91,513 as NSW claimed game II of the series with a 26-18 win over Queensland.
Jennings draws first blood
NSW centre Michael Jennings scored the opening try in a man of the match performance to help the Blues level the series 1-1.
GI makes history
Although the result didn't go Queensland's way, superstar centre Greg Inglis sealed his place in history with his 16th Origin touch down to become the Maroons' greatest ever tryscorer.
No try controversy
Inglis also had a 90m try disallowed after the video referee ruled the ball was knocked on before his run when it was touched by Nate Myles during a tackle on NSW half Mitchell Pearce.
Blues celebrate
It came after Pearce had a try disallowed for NSW minutes earlier, which followed a barnstorming four pointer by Blues prop Aaron Woods that put NSW in front.
Warriors use dubious wall block
In the NRL, the Warriors were beaten by the Roosters in a match that will be best remembered for a contentious play when the Kiwis used a wall block to prevent their rivals charging down a field goal.
Titans down Bulldogs
In a round of only four matches, the Gold Coast Titans sprang an upset to beat an Origin-depleted Canterbury 28-14.
Wrecking ball Taupau
...while Wests backrower Martin Taupau ran roughshod over Souths as the Tigers hammered the premiers 34-6.
Eels topple Storm
...and Parramatta claimed a controversial win over Melbourne following a controversial no try ruling in the last minute against Storm winger Mahe Fonua.
