‘Over the moon’: Trainer reacts to Sulek’s win
Sulek’s trainer Dominic Sutton has spoken to Nine after that race win. Here is what he had to say about the victory.
“A huge result,” Sutton said.
“It’s a horse that’s always promised us a lot. He really put the writing on the wall at the last start at Geelong. Billy’s got a great association with him, gave him a beautiful ride and he … was simply too good.”
Sutton revealed that races like this are a great motivation tool for him as a trainer.
“It’s nice not to have to run into the likes of Kieran Maher,” he laughed.
“It’s really good prize money, especially for the owners that put a lot in.
“I’m just over the moon to have got the result.”

Darling of the Birdcage arrives
The darling of the Birdcage has arrived: model and future Mrs Josh Daicos, Annalise Dalins.
She’s all about fringe today, posing at Flemington in a cropped jacket and mini skirt covered in cream tassels by Eliya the Label.
She topped it off with a delicate braid with a few strands floating free around her face, but it was her shoes that had people talking.
Dalins embraced the controversial Alias Mae Isobel style, which features a narrow peep toe some shoppers have likened to “pig trotters”. Somehow, she made them look chic.

Race 6: Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Final (1600m)
We are nearing closer and closer to the feature race but there are still two races to go before that!
Up next, we have the Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Final. Sulek is the favourite to win this race and Nine’s experts are happy with how the four-year-old looks in the mounting yard.
Our Justify is gaining a lot of support from the punters as is Bel Mezyaan. Lofy Thoughts is another floated as a strong contender by Nine’s experts.

Race 5 results
WINNER: Nobler ($9.20)

3rd: Veyepee
Race 5: Sigma Trophy
Perisher, with superstar jockey James McDonald on board, is a red-hot favourite and the form analysts are backing that up, with Ally Mosley calling it a short-priced favourite that “deserves to be” on Nine’s coverage.
The Eliminator is giving the No.12 Veyepee a chance, while Nine’s experts have also thrown in No.6 Nobler.
Race 5 is just minutes away, with the jump scheduled for 3.20pm.
