Australian Open, day two AS IT HAPPENED: Min Woo Lee one shot off the lead; Rory McIlroy survives huge cut-off scare after air swing

For a brief period of time on day two of the Australian Open, after Rory McIlroy took an air swing in the bushes on the 14th hole and suffered a bogey, the superstar Northern Irishman was outside the cut.

He then revived his tournament in sublime fashion, shooting a birdie, a par and another two birdies to card a 68 and scrape through.

And that means he will head into the third round in equal fourth with fellow Aussie Adam Scott and Mexico's Carlos Ortiz, all of whom are -7 under par.

Rory McIlroy finishes his second round in fine form, birdying both the 17th and 18th, and shooting three birdies from his last four holes.

The superstar Northern Irishman cards a 68 to finish round two tied for 28th at -2 under par.

It'll come as a sigh of relief to McIlroy, who found himself outside the cut after taking an air swing in the bushes on the 14th and suffering a bogey.

Australia's Min Woo Lee finishes his round with a par to card a superb 65. He's outright third at -8.

And Australia's Adam Scott also ends his round with a par to shoot a 66. He's equal fourth at -7.

Portugal's Daniel Rodrigues and Denmark's Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen will head into day three with a share of the lead at -9.

Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy all shot birdies on the 17th hole.

For Lee, that means he's now -8 under par and trailing Daniel Rodrigues and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen by just one shot.

Lee is on his own in third, while Scott is tied for fourth at -7 and McIlroy equal 36th at -1.

One hole to go for the glamour group.

The same horror from Rory's par five cannot be said for the Aussies in the same group.

Min Woo Lee climbs into equal third after another birdie at -7 and Adam Scott jumps into fifth with a brilliant eagle and is -6.

Under the tea tree goes Rory. He punched out but it's turning into a horror show on the par five for McIlroy.

Under the tree, he has a wildly insane airswing that cost him a stroke. He bogeys the hole after a nice save out of the bunker on his fourth shot, but was unable to make even par.

Now, he's outside the cut on +1, not good for Rory!

Cam Smith is having a good round today at the scenic Royal Melbourne.

"The crowds are so cool around here, it's a pretty special place," he said on the Nine broadcast.

"Game feels good, just need a few more putts to drop.

"I've got around the course pretty good today. Such a cool golf course though.

"I think we're going to get the Aussie Open we want this weekend."
