Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has admitted that professional footballers earn "obscene" amounts of money and "live in a bubble".
The Spanish international is believed to earn around $282,000 per week for the struggling Red Devils.
"Compared to the rest of society, we earn a ridiculous amount," Mata told Spanish television programme "Salvados". "It's unfathomable."
But the 27-year-old's salary pales in comparison to some of the world's greatest and most well-paid players.
