Matildas bounce back with trio of debut goals after veteran Chloe Logarzo's 'devastating' exit
The Matildas have made amends for their back-to-back losses to Brazil, defeating Chinese Taipei 3-1 in Melbourne on Wednesday night.
Three debut international goals for the Matildas from Natasha Prior, Sharn Freier and Bryleeh Henry opened up the visitors early and proved enough despite a few nervous moments.
Australia showcased several emerging and returning players with the team aiming to build depth across its two friendly matches against Chinese Taipei.

In just her second appearance for the national team, Prior opened the scoring for the Matildas in the 10th minute.

Positioned at the back post for a short corner, Prior jabbed in a cross from veteran forward Chloe Logarzo — playing in her first start for the green and gold in three years.
The home side quickly added a second in as many minutes as Freier nailed a follow-up header in the box after Emily Gielnik's shot on goal ricocheted off the crossbar.
The Blue Magpies got on the scoreboard through Chen Jin-wen in the 34th minute as a miscommunication down back between Charlotte Grant, Clare Hunt and Mackenzie Arnold proved costly.
With the counterstrike, Jin-wen becomes the first Chinese Taipei player to score against the Matildas since 2007.
Four minutes after being injected into the match, Henry scored the only goal of the second half in the 78th minute.
Henry appeared to lose her footing but kept her composure before heading a pin-point cross from Tamika Yallop.
The Matildas hit the ground running to start the match, dominating possession and pushing forward.
Michelle Heyman just missed a cross from Yallop before Gielnik and Freier's early efforts were quickly extinguished after being caught off-side.
In her return to the starting line-up, goalkeeper Arnold's first touch came half way through the first half.
A nasty clash of heads between Logarzo and opposing player Chan Pi-han saw play stopped as both players were assessed for concussion.
Having worked her way back from a serious knee injury to earn a return to the side, Logarzo wiped tears from her eyes as she made her way to Australia's bench before being subbed out of the match for Alex Chidiac.

"That is devastating for Chloe Logarzo. She deserves to be on the field and have that Matildas shirt on her back," Grace Gill said in commentary for Ten.
Spurred on by Jin-wen's goal, and with the Matildas potentially hindered by Logarzo's absence in the midfield, the Blue Magpies began pressing up and peppering the goals.
At half-time, the Matildas led 2-1 but had a mountain of work to do to hold off the visitors.
With interim Matildas coach Tom Sermannio wanting to give some of the squad's young and inexperienced players significant minutes, no changes were made at the main break.
Facing a one-on-one with Taiwan's keeper, Gielnik squandered a golden opportunity to extend when her shot was deflected wide.
World Cup hero Arnold put the 26,000-strong crowd through an injury scare when she sought treatment on her right ankle. However, she was able to continue between the posts.

With Su Yu-Hsuan going down with a horrific leg injury, a double substitution was triggered for the Matildas.
Gielnik was replaced by Remy Siemsen while Henry came on for Heyman.
In the closing stages, Melbourne City midfielder Leah Davidson made her international debut replacing Daniela Galic. Yallop also made way for Jessika Nash.
The Matildas and Chinese Taipei will face off again at Geelong's Kardinia Park on Saturday night.
Hopefully, Logarzo's substitution was precautionary and she is able to take part.
