This year captured the sporting imagination like never before as one of the globe’s greatest sporting tournaments – the World Cup – again took centre stage.
Germany's Cup triumph wasn’t the only thrilling storyline of 2014, with the Champions League, Europa League, EPL and A-League all recording their tales of victors and vanquished foes.
