'We have it all': Usman Khawaja takes fresh swipe at cricket 'haters'

Fresh off a stunning return to form in Sri Lanka, Australian Test opener Usman Khawaja has taken a swipe at "haters".

Khawaja scored 295 across three innings in the two Tests in Galle, including a sensational double ton in the first as Australia claimed its first clean sweep in Asia in nearly two decades.

As the dust settled, Khawaja posted a photo dump from the tour, and in the caption re-shared the ridiculous stat the Aussies hold the 'trophy' against all current Test sides plus the World Cup and World Test Championship, all while the No.1-ranked side.

"Nothing lasts forever, but I'm just grateful to be a part of it. What an achievement," Khawaja posted to Instagram.

He accompanied that with a green tick alongside each of the Test nations, before taking a triumphant dig at his detractors.

"Haters will always hate. But for now we have it all," he said.

Khawaja is the most politically outspoken member of the Australian side, and regularly speaks out on human rights issues, particularly the ongoing Gaza conflict.

His views, and his stout defiance of calls for him to retire, have made him a polarising character among cricket fans.

On the eve of the second Test, Khawaja came to the defence of prominent cricket journalist Peter Lalor, who was taken off air by SEN radio mid-series after management took exception to his social media activity about the conflict.

Khawaja shared a screenshot of Lalor's post announcing the news, followed by his own lengthy statement condemning the move.

Australia's next Test will be the World Test Championship final against the Proteas at Lord's in June, followed by a three-Test tour to the West Indies.
