Marnus Labuschagne mishap causes Steve Smith injury scare as medical assistance called for in net session
Marnus Labuschagne sent a Steve Smith-sized injury scare through the Australian camp, when he struck the former skipper on the finger while batting in the nets.
Labuschagne was using a throwing aid to give throw-downs to Smith when the pink ball appeared to rear off the Adelaide Oval practice wicket and into his right thumb on Tuesday.
The Australian No.4 was in obvious pain and needed assistance from team doctors.

The injury did not appear serious and he returned to the nets shortly after. He is expected to play in the second Test against India, beginning Friday.
Later in the session, Labuschagne himself was struck by a rising ball from assistant coach and New Zealand spin great Daniel Vettori, but was uninjured.

Already without quick Josh Hazlewood for the match, another injury scare is the last thing the Aussies need.
Hazlewood was ruled out of the pink ball match last week with a side strain, although Indian great Sunil Gavaskar suggested he was dropped as punishment for comments he made to media during Australia's heavy first Test loss.
Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett were brought into the side as cover, although Scott Boland, who was 12th man in Perth, is expected to get the nod.
Boland went wicketless for the Prime Minister's XI in the rain-shortened match against India in Canberra at the weekend.
The day-night second Test begins 3pm (AEDT) Friday.
