Mitchell Starc rocks IPL with three wickets in four balls to lead Capitals to huge win

Mitchell Starc took three wickets in four balls for the Delhi Capitals in a dominant display in the Indian Premier League on Sunday.

The Aussie quick finished with figures of 4-40, helping to keep Delhi in the playoff race as they took down the Rajasthan Royals.

The Royals were in control at 2-162, with Dhruv Jurel (45 off 30) and captain Riyan Parag (51 off 25) cruising, but the game turned quickly, with Starc the architect for the script change.

Four balls later, they were 5-164 as Starc removed Parag, Donovan Ferreira and Ravi Singh.

Earlier Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had got the Royals off to a strong start bashing 46 off 21 balls, but his effort was ultimately in vein.

Delhi chased down the set target of 193 with four balls to spare, thanks to the early power hitting of Abishek Porel and KL Rahul, who both blasted quick-fire 50s.

Axar Patel finished the job with 34 off 18 balls alongside Ashutosh Sharma who hit two sixes and made 18 off five deliveries.

Starc, however, took home player-of-the-match honours.

"We didn't bowl too badly in the powerplay but they batted well, but we brought things back later," Starc said afterwards.

"And KL batted fantastically, and to finish at home with a win is always nice."

The Capitals have moved up to seventh in the points table and remain in striking distance of the top teams.
