Former PM Bob Hawke wins over the SCG crowd (again) by drinking a beer

Bob Hawke has provided yet another example as to why he is such a loved former Prime Minister.

As well as being considered by many a voice of the nation, Hawke still knows how to remain popular with the younger generation.

The revered 87-year-old repeated one his most popular acts of recent years by drinking a beer while being shown on the big screen during day two of the Sydney Test.

Hawke, who filled the nation's top job from 1983-91, has continued his love of cricket (and beer) as the years have progressed.

It was only a few summers ago he skolled one in the crowd as a gift from ''The Richies'', but this time around he was in the far more comfortable surrounds of a private suite.

To the jealousy of cricket fans all over the country, Hawke was also able to enjoy his beer from a glass.

So, ex-PM Hawke, cheers to you and here's hoping to many more days like this.
