Spencer Johnson produces 'Starc-like' yorker to rock Afghanistan opener

Spencer Johnson proved his worth in replacing Mitchell Starc at the Champions Trophy after securing a wicket with the fifth ball of the ODI against Afghanistan.

The left-armer started with the new ball after Afghanistan won the toss and had a shaky start.

His first delivery was down legside and tucked away for two leg byes. His second was a legside wide. The third was almost another wide on the other side and the next was similar.

Johnson's fourth legal delivery was defended before a ripping inswinging yorker came next, knocking over Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck.

"What a ripper that is, that's Starc-like, that's how good that is. That's just so, so pinpoint," Ian Smith said on Amazon Prime's coverage.

Gurbaz notably stood his ground for at least 10 seconds, looking at the pitch.

"He's holding his ground contemplating what just happened ... but you've been castled," Matthew Hayden said.

"This was a rocket ... it was a peach of a delivery," Katey Martin added.

The erratic bowling from Johnson continued in his second over, with much of it coming from the swinging conditions.

He bowled a wide with his third ball which was then followed up by four byes before five wides followed with the ball going down the legside.
