Senior Cricket Australia staffer sacked after $600,000 contracts for mates probe

A senior staffer has left Cricket Australia after it was found they were involved in awarding contracts worth more than $600,000 to an outside company they are affiliated with.
The concerns were raised by a CA whistleblower and were being probed by an independent investigation.
That concluded on Friday and CA announced the staffer is gone.

"An independent assessment of claims made by an anonymous whistleblower concerning a CA staff member has been completed," CA said in a statement to The Age.
"An allegation of an undeclared conflict of interest during a procurement process has been substantiated. The staff member has now left CA."
According to independent outlet Michael West Media, the whistleblower who raised the issue with CA was made redundant shortly afterwards.

The whistleblower is said to have provided "a comprehensive dossier" to the CA board after realising the potential conflict of interest from the unnamed senior staffer.
The same staffer also previously worked at the NRL and has been investigated by the NRL's integrity unit, according to The Age.
The person allegedly registered a company in March 2025 and listed themselves as a director and shareholder, and then registered another company in November and named an associate as director of that one.
It was in February this year that the senior CA staffer is alleged to have approved a purchase order to one of those companies. In total CA is said to have forked out upwards of $600,000 to the company or companies.
The whistleblower also alleges two associates of the senior staffer, who allegedly also used to work at the NRL, were hired by CA in the same department as the unnamed senior staffer.
