Although losing to her rival Tamm Thibeault, Desley Robinson has represented Australian on one of the biggest stages, MVPW-05, showing what Aussie female fighters can aim towards in their careers.

Speaking exclusively to nine.com.au, Robinson spoke about her and Cherneka Johnson’s journey to the MVP main card.

“I did amateurs with Cherneka, so growing up, seeing each other fight in the amateurs, you think that’s it,” said Robinson.

“Now we’re on the world stage and world champions. We’ve both seen each other’s journeys, we have fought in amateurs on the same cards.

“It’s unreal, I think it’s really good. Australia boxing doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, and especially having two women who have really pushed and busted out butts to get there, it’s good for Australia to see that.

“For a sport that isn’t in the limelight enough, we’re doing it in another country and putting the limelight on it here.”

Johnson finally bounces back as both fighters ‘hungry’ for victory

Cherneka Johnson has become more assertive in this fight against Dina Thorslund but it still looks like her rival is ahead of her on the scores.

Earlier, Johnson spoke to nine.com.au exclusively about her upcoming bout with her rival.

“Dina doesn’t have much setting up her attacks. She’s got a great work rate, great punch output, great stamina, as you do being undefeated,” Johnson admitted.

“But she has never fought anyone like me before. I believe I can do it all, and I’ll do whatever I have to combat what she brings.

“We are both hungry, we both have something on the line. I definitely think it’s going to be a full-on war, that’s for sure.”
