AFL trade period: Day seven
How it works
The AFL trade period is a 10-day window where AFL clubs are allowed to trade players for each other or for draft picks. It runs until the evening of October 15, and usually sees around 30 players shift clubs each year.
Players who have been with their clubs for six years qualify for free agency and are allowed to change clubs freely without needing to be traded.

"We see a clear role for Brayden on the wing, it's a role-specific target we were after leading into this period. Brayden has great leadership qualities, is a high-end character and has great footy IQ. There's no doubt he'll complement our midfield mix.
"He provides us with reliable, immediate impact on and off-field and is the calibre of character we want driving standards at the Essendon Football Club."

The Gold Coast Suns has released a statement after Brayden Fiorini was traded to Essendon.
Fiorini told the club he'd exercise his rights as a free agent at the start of the trade period and is now a Bomber.
"I will be forever grateful to the Suns for the opportunity they gave me as an 18-year-old to fulfill my dream of becoming an AFL footballer," Fiorini said.
"I'll always value and cherish the incredible journey we've shared over the past decade, the club, and the people within the club, have had a profound impact on my life both on and off the field and for that I'd like to say, thank you.
"I will always be so proud that I was able to represent this footy club, and I look forward to following the journey over the coming years."
Suns general manager of player talent and strategy, Craig Cameron, confirmed an offer was made to Fiorini.
"Brayden has made a significant contribution to our football club, both on and off the field, throughout ten seasons, and has been a much-loved member of our playing group," he said.
"We would like to wish Brayden, his wife Molly and young son William all the best in their next chapter."

Jenkins dismisses Hawks' Merrett offer
Speaking on AFL Trade Radio, Josh Jenkins has called out Hawthorn's offer for Zach Merrett, saying it's nowhere near enough.
The Hawks have offered pick nine, a future first, a future second and midfielder Henry Hustwaite.
"I don't think this offer is any good. Pick nine is a good cornerstone."
"I think we're starting to realise why Essendon is playing hard ball.
"Essendon have looked at what Hawthorn are not able to offer and said they've got to play hard ball.
"I don't even include Hustwaite as part of the deal. If he turns into a Jack Crisp style steak knife, then sure. I'm discounting a second round pick as well."
