Melbourne president Brad Green grilled over 'unstable' Demons after axing coach Simon Goodwin

Melbourne's interim president Brad Green has declared that the club is not in crisis following the board's decision to sack senior coach Simon Goodwin.
Goodwin was axed after a Monday night board meeting, with Green claiming it was time for a new voice to take charge.
Assistant coach Troy Chaplin will take over in an interim capacity for Melbourne's three remaining regular-season games.

The club had already planned to change its president and CEO at the end of the year, with interim members Green and David Chippindall acting in the roles. Former player Steve Smith and Paul Guerra have been tapped to take over those two positions.
Now, with a new coach added to the agenda, every senior leadership position at the club will be replaced.
"Simon has only been told of the decision [regarding] the coach; every other position has been consulted through this process," Green, on the defensive, told a packed media conference on Tuesday.
"We're speaking to Steve [Smith], we're in consultation with Paul [Guerra].
"There's nothing unstable with our decision-making. We keep moving forward.
"When you make these decisions, and they're not easy — with all due respect — that's why when you make them, we felt we had to get straight on the phone and have a talk."
Green said he left the board meeting and drove straight to Goodwin's home on Monday night, where he informed the 2021 premiership coach that his services were no longer required.
With the timing of the announcement, Green confirmed the club had not yet spoken to or canvassed any potential candidates to replace Goodwin.
Asked what the club needs in a new coach, Green was unsure.
"We'll speak about that in the future," he said.
"We only came to a decision about Simon last night. I think that is pretty disrespectful [to discuss a new coach] when you've only just made a decision. But, they'll come."
With Goodwin under contract until the end of next season, the club will be forced to pay him out to the tune of about $1 million.
Asked if this could impact the club's ability to attract a preferred candidate, Green quipped: "We'll be alright".
Despite missing out on playing finals for the last two seasons, Green believes the club has the list to get back into the mix.
"Over time, we'll get there," he said.
"We still believe we've got a list that should be playing finals, we believe, as a board.
"But we don't shy away from that."
The Demons currently sit 12th on the AFL ladder with a 7-13 record. They have been mathematically eliminated from the finals series.
