'The talk will only get stronger': Matthew Lloyd exposes reality facing Michael Voss ahead of Blues' grudge match
With pressure mounting at Carlton, Matthew Lloyd does not believe Michael Voss is safe from the axe, just because he has a contract for 2026.
The Blues have started the season winless from three games, including a loss to wooden spoon favourites Richmond.
With a clash looming again rivals Collingwood in front of what will likely be 85,000 fans at the MCG on Thursday night, Lloyd sees it as simply a must-win game for Carlton for both their season and for Voss' future.

"He's got a contract for next year, but that doesn't mean anything in football because these days they have a six month payout clause," Lloyd told 3AW.
"You could be contracted for three years, but if you're sacked you just get paid out for six months. It's easy for clubs to move on from coaches now.
"He's only won two of his last 12 games, Michael Voss, and that was against North Melbourne and West Coast.
"There's no doubt that the pressure is on at Carlton for him to improve otherwise the talk will only get stronger."
The Essendon great believes the Blues simply play an outdated game style, built around contest and stoppage, and have been left behind by the best sides.
"It's the way they're losing. Their effort is outstanding and they are playing hard for him, it's just that they play a brand of football that doesn't win games in 2025," Lloyd said.
"Melbourne is the other club playing (this brand). They just bomb the ball (inside 50), it's a bang, crash, clearance style game, whereas the best clubs like Brisbane move the ball fast. Hawthorn does the same.
"They play Collingwood on a big stage on Thursday night. It's must win for Michael.
"It would be (season over for Carlton if they lost). If you go 0-4 you are chasing your tail. You've got to win 13 games minimum to play finals. It does get pretty difficult."
Despite the grim proclamation should the Blues lose, Lloyd is at this stage leaning towards tipping the Magpies.
"(Carlton) is a bit one-paced. It's an in tight, contested style game where Collingwood moves the ball at pace," Lloyd said.
"They're an old team Collingwood, but they move the ball in the way the modern game is going.
"I like Collingwood (in this game) because of the style and brand they play."
Carlton will be hoping spearhead Harry McKay will be available for the game, after missing the last two weeks for personal reasons.
