Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge target of alleged $100,000 extortion plot
Luke Beveridge was the target of an alleged $100,000 extortion plot by a man who failed to attend Melbourne Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
According to The Age, the coach received threats from Brendon Berry - the son of former boxing trainer Leo - in a letter received in June of this year.
Court documents claimed the threats were "in a manner which a reasonable person would regard as menacing" but the contents of the letter have not been disclosed.

Less than a week after the Western Bulldogs boss received the letter, he was appointed a security guard for a game against North Melbourne.
A warrant has now been issued for Berry's arrest by magistrate Donna Bakos after he failed to appear in court for a third time and had not complied with bail conditions.

"I don't issue warrants ever lightly. We explore all possibilities as we should … and I think I've exhausted all those possibilities," Bakos said.
He is charged with make an unwarranted demand for money with menace and using a postal service in a manner that could be regarded as menacing.
The news surrounding Beveridge comes after two fellow AFL head coaches - Carlton's Michael Voss and Melbourne's Simon Goodwin - were the victims of threats this year.
The AFL integrity unit appointed security detail for both coaches after the incidents.
