EXCLUSIVE: Eddie McGuire says Blues will sack coach Voss if team goes 0-5 in Gather Round

Eddie McGuire believes Carlton will likely sack coach Michael Voss if the club falls to 0-5 and loses to West Coast in round five, saying he "knows how Carlton behaves".

The Blues and Eagles meet in a battle of winless teams in Gather Round and for Carlton, their finals hopes will likely be crushed with another defeat.

Carlton came into the season hoping to contend for the flag, after making a preliminary final in 2023 and spending most of 2024 inside the top four.

However, they have blown four half-time leads, including to wooden spoon favourites Richmond, and are yet to kick 80 points in a game this season.

Carlton has sacked four coaches since 2012 and McGuire believes they will revert to that mechanism if the lowly Eagles take them down in Adelaide.

"If Carlton gets beaten by West Coast on the weekend, I think Voss is gone," McGuire told Nine's Eddie and Jimmy podcast.

"I know how Carlton behaves.

"I think (Voss) is in a bit of trouble if they get knocked off by West Coast.

"I think Carlton will come out and flog West Coast, by the way.

"I got into trouble. Andy Maher got very upset at me when I said that (Brett Ratten) was gone (in 2012) and Mick Malthouse was in. I knew where Mick was going, you could read the play on it."

Voss has served as head coach of Carlton since 2022 and has won two finals at the helm, the first Blues coach to do so since David Parkin, who exited the club in 2000.

Carlton has already suffered off-field turbulence this year, with president Luke Sayers stepping down after a lewd photo was leaked to his social media page.

CEO Brian Cook will also stand down at the end of the season and hand the reins to veteran administrator Graham Wright.
