'If the season finished now': Eagles star reportedly plans to depart as free agent for three key reasons
West Coast captain Oscar Allen plans to depart in free agency and join reigning premiers Brisbane, according to Nine's chief AFL reporter Tom Morris.
Allen, who recently met with Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell, is one of the biggest available names on the market, and the Lions fit perfectly given their need to replace the retired Joe Daniher.
Morris revealed the three reasons why the 26-year-old is currently leaning towards a move across the country.

"As it stands, Oscar Allen wants to play for the Brisbane Lions next year," Morris told Nine's Footy Classified.
"He's clearly out of contract at the end of the year and he's a free agent.
"There's three reasons why he wants to play for the Brisbane Lions next year. The long term contract is one, the security of that. Six-plus years and set his family up for life.
"Another reason is the fact that they're in the premiership window and can win the flag next year.

"The third reason is the prospect of the Brisbane Lions fixing his body. He's had issues with his knee, and they have done that before with Lincoln McCarthy, with Callum Ah Chee and of course with Joe Daniher.
"It's one to watch. It could potentially change before the end of the year, but if the season finished now, Allen would move to the Lions as a free agent."

When asked by reporters in April if he wished to remain at the Eagles long term, Allen said that he did.
"Yeah, I do," he said.
"I'm not going to get into specifics. I do love this club and am looking forward to playing the rest of this season."
The Lions have turned to youngster Logan Morris and brought in Gold Coast stalwart Sam Day in their attempts to temporarily fill the Daniher void.
