Lions star Charlie Cameron cleared to play after dramatic twist at AFL appeals board

Brisbane Lions star Charlie Cameron is free to play after a successful trip to the AFL appeals board on Thursday evening.
The AFL tribunal initially upheld his suspsension at a hearing earlier in the week, but Brisbane opted to take the next step in a bid to clear Cameron.
Cameron tackled West Coast's Liam Duggan and took him to ground, but did not sling him, during the Lions 13-point win on Sunday at Optus Stadium.

The 30-year-old drove Duggan into the turf, which resulted in the Eagle suffering a concussion and taking no further part in the match.

Cameron was slapped with a three-match ban, but upon appeal, will be available for Brisbane's round 19 fixture after the tribunal were deemed to have 'made an error'.
His side will take on ladder leaders Sydney on Sunday afternoon.
Cameron's turnaround in fortune came after a mammoth tribunal session on Tuesday, which saw Giants star Toby Bedford handed a three-match ban for his dangerous tackle on Richmond's Tim Taranto.
During the final quarter of the Giants' 24-point win over the Tigers, Bedford took Taranto to ground, but slammed his head into the turf in the process.
His suspension was also overturned at the appeals board in a surprise decision, allowing Bedford to play this weekend for GWS.
Meanwhile, the Gold Coast Suns were also slapped with suspensions to two players after their game against Port Adelaide.
Malcom Rosas was handed a one-match ban for his off-the-ball elbow on Port Adelaide's Logan Evans, which wasn't appealed.

However, Alex Davies was slapped with a three-match suspension for his dangerous act against Port's Lachie Jones, which was the final case heard on Tuesday night. That decision was upheld too.
Jones was concussed after Davies used his hip to collide with his head over the ball.

The act was graded as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.
The decision around Davies wasn't confirmed until just before 10pm, making for a six-hour session.
