After the goal, Hipwood put his right hand on his mouth and left to his head, mimicking Jason Akermanis against Geelong in 2005.
"These are one of those Hail Mary's that you think there's no chance, especially with the wind that's pushing from left to right in the pocket," Luke Hodge said on Hipwood's goal.
"I've seen that reaction and the crowd somewhere before."
In the match, Akermanis kicked two miracle goals inside a minute from the right pocket. He did the celebration after the second goal which left Michael Voss smiling from the bench.
"Talk about people who drag patrons through the gates," Gerard Healy said back in 2005.
Retired Geelong star Joel Selwood said Akermanis would've been stoked to see Hipwood pay homage.
"Aker would've enjoyed that and I'm sure he's enjoying seeing himself on the screen again," he smiled.
