A woman has praised TikTok users for "saving her life" after they pointed out that a strange symbol she found outside her home potentially meant she was being targeted by a sex trafficking syndicate.

Canadian woman Jade Jules was perplexed to discover the symbol "1F" was etched into the snow on top of her rubbish bins, when she asked her 53,000 followers on TikTok what it meant.

Flooded with alarming messages, Jules was informed she had potentially been targeted by a group known to be praying on single women.

The symbol "1F", according to her followers, stands for "one female", and it is drawn outside the homes of single women to suggest they are vulnerable to intrusion.

The symbol has been associated with targeting women for crimes such as robberies, sex trafficking and sexual assault.

Jules acknowledged her followers messages, claiming they "definitely saved my life.

Explaining she saw the symbol when she was disposing of her rubbish, Jules recorded the moment and posted it on TikTok.

"I thought people on TikTok would know and help me, which they did. I'm very thankful for everyone who helped me," she said in the video.

Since the discovery, Jules has moved in with her mother, after being "terrified" by it's allegedly sinister meaning.

"I thought someone did it as a joke or something, but then all the comments and messages came in so my mom came and got me. I packed some stuff and haven't been home since," she said.

"It's been very scary, I have not been home since as I am terrified. I have no idea who did it or why they did it but I've done everything I can."

Jules says she informed the police, but learnt there was little that could be done about the situation.

"The police couldn't do anything because there were no suspects and I had no clue who or what it was. So they just wiped off the bin and told me to stay safe and if I can leave for a few days to do that, so that's what I did," she said.

Jules concluded her post, saying: "I'm beyond grateful for everyone that commented and messaged me telling me to stay safe and be careful and to not post my whereabouts."
