Andy Murray tearfully recalls strange question he asked his wife on their first date

Andy Murray isn't forgetting those who have supported him on his tennis journey.

The esteemed athlete gave his farewell speech at Wimbledon after his doubles match alongside his brother Jamie.

And while he spoke at length about his time on the pro circuit, it was the touching tribute at the end of his speech that brought tears to fans eyes.

"I'd better say something about my wife, because I'll get in trouble if I don't. But this probably gonna be the hard part," the two-time Wimbledon champion said.

His wife, Kim Sears, tearfully smiled in the stands as her partner of almost two decades recalled how they met.

They first ran into each other at the US Open when they were both 18 years old.

"I choked a little bit the first time we went out and I walked her home to her hotel and I asked her for her email address," Murray laughed.

"I don't think that's a normal thing to do."

Murray recalled the first match of his Sears ever came to watch during that same tournament, saying he vomited twice on the court.

"Once right in front of where she was sitting. I then stood up and vomited on my opponent's racquet bag," he told the crowd as Sears laughed along in the stands.

"She still seemed to like me so I knew she was a keeper," Murray added as the crowd erupted in cheers.

He went on to say Sears had been an "amazing support" to both him and his family throughout his career, adding that she's the "best mum" to their four kids, Sophia, Edie, Teddie, and Lola.

"Unfortunately, in a couple of months, she's going to have to see me every day," Murray joked.

"So, things might be rocky for a little while but hopefully we can stick it out together... I'm looking forward to the rest of our lives."
