A bride who unwittingly booked her wedding on the same date as a family friend has been left dealing with the fallout, but not from her fellow bride.

She explained on Reddit's 'Wedding Shaming' thread that by the time they realised the double-up, the two couples had "both put down significant deposits.

"It happens and we talked it out and the two of us are cool," she continued.

"A few of my cousins are local to her wedding and, again, we talked it out, planned a post wedding get together, and it's fine that they went to the local wedding instead of mine."

She thought everything was OK, until her aunt got involved.

"It's not new behavior, but she has refused to acknowledge my wedding (besides when she asked my grandmother to tell me to move my wedding date)," she said.

The bride said since the wedding a few weeks ago her aunt "posted multiple emotional rants on social media about how beautiful the other wedding was and how sad she is that so much of our family missed it (to go to mine)."

"I actually had to block her because she tagged me in multiple posts about it," the bride explained. "Didn't bother calling, texting, sending a card, or even RSVPing a 'no.'"

Her aunt also asked if they were planning to host a reception "in the town she lives in."

The bride has decided to leave her aunt to her antics and to let her social media block speak for itself, ending her post by saying: "Anyways, some things are better left unsaid and some people are better off blocked."

She later explains in the comments that she is "very close with her kids" so doesn't want to further incite her aunt with any retaliatory action.

"Yes, some people are meant to be blocked," one Redditer responded.

"Some people love to create drama over menial things," another said.

"If you do have a family get together to celebrate don't invite the aunt. Tell her the reasons is her social media passive aggressive behavior. Call her out on it," another suggests.

Another praised both brides, writing: "Congratulations to you and your friend for being sensible grownups and being okay with the coincidence. My best friend and I got married two weeks apart from each other 31 years ago. Shared a low key Bach party and a crinoline.

"Little did I know that according to bridezillas that friendship should have gone scorched earth. The four of us are still best friends to this day and celebrate our anniversaries the week in between. Congratulations on both of your wedding and the aunt can kick rocks."

Another said: "I'm thinking the fact she went to the other wedding is a win in this case."

One Redditer also faced a similar situation.

"We ended up planning our wedding for the same day as one of my dear friends," they explained.

"It was fine. We called each other, laughed about it, and sorted out any mutual friends that would have been invited to both weddings," she said.

"Then we got together after our honeymoons and went out for dinner and drinks and congratulated each other and said we wished we could have been there," this bride continued.

"It totally happens, and you can't predict or control it."
