Bride asks guests for help after deciding not to hire a wedding photographer

A bride asked her wedding guests to take photos at her upcoming reception to save on the costs of a wedding photographer.

To further motivate her guests to take good photos, she has announced it will be a competition, with the best photo taken on the night winning a prize.

She floated the idea to her guests and that idea has since been shared on the 'That's It, I'm Wedding Shaming' Facebook page.

It read: "Has anyone NOT had a photographer. We're thinking about saving $ by having a 'best photo competition' so having ALL our guests take photos from every angle and having a prize as motivation to take good pictures."

It didn't take long for actual wedding photographers to comment on the bride's request, with many pointing out the results of her 'competition' are unlikely to match the quality of professional photos.

"On behalf of wedding photographers everywhere: Good luck with that. I mean if you don't want good pictures of your wedding, that's on you," said one.

"Seems silly," said another professional photographer.

A third comment reads: "Only if you don't want good pictures."

Another comment reads: "Oof that's not the place to cut corners IMO."

One of the funnier comments pointed out: "Who needs fancy lighting when Aunt Sue has 6 beers and an iPhone 7."

"It is all fun and games until guests are getting in the way as you walk down the aisle or your first dance due to their competitive nature," said another.

This isn't the first time a bride has overstepped when it comes to wedding photos.

In August a bride was exposed for having photoshopped one of her bridesmaids to make her look thinner in the final photos.

Another joked they wanted to see 'the end result,' while a further penned: 'Who needs fancy lighting when Aunt Sue has 6 beers and an iPhone 7.'

Elsewhere, one person suggested the competitive nature of the bride's idea could lead to her wedding pictures being ruined by overzealous guests.

'It is all fun and games until guests are getting in the way as you walk down the aisle or your first dance due to their competitive nature,' wrote one.

A second added: 'You have guests ruin professional shots as it is....I can't imagine what kind of s*** show this would produce.'

Another couple ended up with less than please photos after asking a waiter to take photos for them.

The couple, who eloped in November and celebrated at a high-end restaurant, asked their waiter to take a picture to commemorate the occasion.

All they were left with was a single blurry photo… with the waiter's fingers covering half the image.
