Tracy Grimshaw is known as an influential voice in the Australian media, but it turns out she's something of a COVID-era style innovator, too.

The A Current Affair anchor has found a... let's just say unique solution to one of the most common face masks complaints — and it's already caught on.

"Glasses fog up if they're not sitting actually ON the mask, but then they slip down. So I solved the slipping-down issue," she captioned a photo of her trick on Instagram.

Grimshaw's solution is one Harry Potter would approve of: a piece of sticky tape, one end looped around her glasses frames, the other stuck to her forehead.

Is it effective? Sure. Is it subtle? Um... look, absolutely not. But the journalist is defiant in the face of her colleagues' amusement.

"Couldn't figure out why the whole office is laughing at my latest mask/glasses hack, so I took a selfie," Grimshaw, who recently celebrated 40 years as part of Nine, added.

"Okay now I get it ... It's not a fashion show people!!!"

Well, it seems Grimshaw's had the last laugh, with fellow Nine journalist Steve Marshall also embracing her sticky tape technique.

"I'm an influencer!! @stevemarshall9 has jumped on board," she wrote, sharing a photo of Marshall's effort.

Looks like we can add this 'hack' to other unexpected pandemic trends like sourdough starters, vaccination outfits and Zoom trivia.

Grimshaw isn't alone in grappling with foggy lenses, with many glasses-wearers finding the air escaping through the top of a face mask leaves them with a misty outlook.

There have been plenty of suggestions over the past 18 months for how to prevent it happening.

These include placing a folded tissue across the nose under the mask, to create a barrier between the wearer's breath and their frames, and misting the lenses with a mix of baby shampoo and water to ward off fog.
