A grandmother who thought she'd bought pinstripe pants received a rude shock when her granddaughter pointed out the 'pinstripes' were, in fact, letters making up a very specific phrase.

The granddaughter, Chelsea, has shared the story on TikTok (@chels_bb) saying her grandmother arrived for a family gathering wearing a smart white blouse and the pants.

"My nana thought these pants were pinstriped," she says in the video.

The camera then zooms in on the pants and the words 'f--k you' show up in white text across the black material, forming lines of text that appear at a distance to be stripes.

One of the grandmother's children can be heard in the background of the video explaining what her pants say, to which she responds: "Oh my God."
