As the festive season kicks off, the biggest Christmas tree decorating trend of 2021 has been revealed.
Appearing on Weekend Today, expert decorator David Glen and his apprentice Charlotte told hosts that most Australian families are opting for traditional decorations this year.
As the borders open and lockdown ends, families plan to reunite for a traditional Christmas celebration.
Charlotte told hosts, "People want to have a big traditional Christmas", adding that this year has seen a return to a "focus on traditional colours".

Most families are opting for the traditional colours of red, green and white, as well as gold and silver.
There's one other festive trend in tow, she adds. "Our 'country Christmas' themes are going off as well."

Glen, who runs a successful decorating business in Mittagong, says the top three things you should take into consideration when decorating are lights, colour and the mantra that "more decorations is best."

Decorations don't always have to be expensive or store-bought, he explains, adding that incorporating natural foliage from the garden in the way of wreaths or tree decorations can be a great way to add wow-factor without spending a fortune.
