Soldier falls off horse during Trooping the Colour procession

Medics rushed to a soldier's aid during Trooping the Colour after he fell off his horse during the procession.

The soldier, who has not been identified, fell off his horse while performing in front of Her Majesty at the Horse Guard Parade.

While it's not clear how serious his injuries are, medical aides attended to the man and appeared to take him away on a stretcher after the fall.

This year's Trooping the Colour marked Her Majesty's 69th time attending the ceremony – and her 66th time as the reigning sovereign.

While Queen Elizabeth II's actual birthday is on April 21, the official birthday of the reigning sovereign is also celebrated on the second Saturday in June with soldiers marching in the Trooping the Colour procession.

It's also one of the few events each year the entire royal family gets together.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the important ceremony. The appearance marks Meghan Markle's first appearance since giving birth to her first child with Prince Harry – Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

The couple travelled in a carriage to the Horse Guard Parade with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge.

Their carriage was followed by Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and then by Her Majesty the Queen.

The monarch travelled solo as the Duke of Edinburgh retired from royal duty in 2017.
